United College Ministries of Northern Virginia Reports on Mission Trip Students affiliated with United College Ministries in Northern Virginia, which is supported through church contributions to the Potomac Association, traveled to the Bahamas in January to work in conjuction with Methodist Habitat to rebuild a home that had been devastated by Hurricane Wilma. UCMNV Seeks Nominations for Cooke Scholarship and Award The United College Ministries in Northern Virginia is seeking nominations for two awards that will be presented at its annual banquet later this spring. Both awards are in memory of the late Emmett W. Cocke Jr., a United Methodist minister who was committed to social justice. The first award is a $700 scholarship to a student enrolled and in good standing at either Northern Virginia Community College or George Mason University. The award is based on financial need and commitment to social justice. The second, the Cocke Social Justice Award, is given to an individual or organization whose life and work reflect extraordinary commitment to social justice. Deadline for nominations is February 28.
