40 Days of Prayer for November's Election

Please join your sibling congregations from the Potomac Association in 40 days of prayer leading up to November's consequential election. We invite you to bless VOTE-ive candles in worship on September 22nd, Faith and Democracy Sunday, before dispersing them, along with a provided list of prayer prompts, to anyone in your congregation who wishes to take part. We call on participants to light their candles as they pray daily for the forty days leading up to the Sunday before Election Day.

On November 3rd, we invite them to return their candle to church so we can witness a beautiful sea of lights symbolizing the collective power of our prayers. We will report how many congregations in the Potomac Association take part as a reminder of our collective power and the enduring truth that we do not walk alone in seasons of uncertainty. God is with us, and no matter the outcome, we are in this together. Our concrete actions to get out the vote will be fueled by hearts encouraged with prayer. Let us act, and let us pray. To join the "40 Days of Prayer Initiative" please contact the Rev. Ellen Jennings at pastor@cpcchurch.org, and she will provide you with the prayer prompts. Thank you for all you are doing to activate hope, joy, and determination in this election season!
