Virtual Meet & Greet Announcment
Greetings Potomac Association,
 
Let’s gather for a Virtual Meet and Greet – “What’s Going On” – on Saturday; June 6, 2020 at 9:30 am. This will be a moderated opportunity to express, inspire, and impart into one another virtually.  We will transition from the Meet & Greet to the worship and business of the Potomac Association Spring Meeting 2020 at 10:00 am.

Part of the business to be conducted in Saturday’s meeting is a vote approving the Committee on Ministry ‘s decision to use the new version of the Manual on Ministry (“MOM”) developed by the national office of the UCC.  This manual is the main resource for guidelines and procedures for the Committee on Ministry to use in their important work in authorizing clergy and churches.
 
If you have not seen the special video on the new MOM that has been made by our COM, we encourage you to view it before Saturday, when the vote will be taken. It is available on YouTube.

Manual on Ministry (MOM)

DC Hymn Festival with James Abbington

Peoples Congregational United Church of Christ will be the host church for the debut of the new African American ecumenical hymnal entitled “One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism.” Monday, April 27th at 7:00 pm. One of our nation’s premier organists and choir directors Dr. James Abbington will serve as the organist and director for that evening! 

CANCELED: The Arctic, Climate Change, and US National Security: Reflections from the U.S. Icebreaker, Healy

Join Marisol Maddox to learn about the state of the Arctic- which is experiencing climate change at more than twice the global average- and implications for US national security. She will share experiences from her time with Coast Guard in the Arctic Ocean this past summer on the icebreaker, Healy, as well as the relevance of changes in the Arctic to the rest of the globe. 
Marisol Maddox is an Arctic analyst at the Woodrow Wilson Center, as well as a non-resident research fellow at the Center for Climate & Security, and a graduate student in International Security at George Mason University. Her research considers the security implications of an opening Arctic, the evolution of US strategy in the region, polar governance and geopolitics, climate change risk mitigation, and opportunities for enhanced international collaboration on regenerative solutions to shared security concerns.

Ash Wednesday Service at Plymouth Congregational UCC

Please plan on joining us for Ash Wednesday Service at Plymouth Congregational UCC to begin our Lenten Journey on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 12 noon. This is the same time of the service which Lincoln UCC hosted.
Participants are also needed in the service so if you are available please let us know
